This page explains how to delete your Convot.io ("Convot") account and request the erasure of the personal data associated with it. It applies to account holders on the web app, the mobile app, and any other Convot surface. For a full description of how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.
1. Who this is for
- Account holders (Customers) - operators, agents, admins, and owners who signed up for Convot. You can delete your own account using the steps below.
- End Users - visitors who chatted with a business through the Convot widget. Your data is controlled by that business, not by Convot directly. To have it deleted, contact the business you spoke to, or email us at [email protected] and we will route your request to them.
2. Delete your account in the app
You can request deletion directly from your account:
- Open Settings → Account in the Convot web app or mobile app.
- Select Delete account and confirm.
- Your account is deactivated immediately: you are signed out, push notifications stop, your email and phone number are released and disconnected from the account, and you can no longer sign in.
3. Delete your account by email
If you cannot access the app, email [email protected] from the address registered to your account with the subject line "Delete my account". We may need to verify your identity before processing the request. We will action verified requests within thirty (30) days, and usually much sooner.
4. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove or disconnect the personal data tied to you, including:
- Your login credentials and ability to sign in.
- Your email address and phone number as personal identifiers on the account.
- Push / device tokens used to send you notifications.
- Your profile details (display name and avatar) on request.
5. What may be retained, and for how long
Some records are retained for a limited period, either because shared workspace history would otherwise break or because the law requires it:
- Workspace history - if you were part of an organization, conversations and messages handled in that shared workspace remain with the organization. They are deleted when the organization itself is closed.
- Account data after closure - when an organization is closed, its data is permanently deleted from our active systems within thirty (30) days.
- Backups - encrypted backups may retain data for up to ninety (90) days before they are overwritten.
- Billing records - invoices and payment records are kept for up to seven (7) years to meet tax and accounting obligations.
If you want a complete erasure that goes beyond the steps above, including deletion of an organization and all of its data, email [email protected] and we will handle it, subject to the legal retention periods listed here.
6. Timing
In-app deletion takes effect immediately. Email requests are actioned within thirty (30) days of verification. Removal from active systems completes within thirty (30) days, and from backups within ninety (90) days.
