Intercom pricing in 2026 has two parts: a per-seat plan, with a list price of $29 per seat a month billed annually on Essential, $85 on Advanced and $132 on Expert, and usage on top, mainly the Fin AI Agent from $0.99 per outcome. Intercom’s pricing page also showed a $19 Essential promotion on 1 October 2026. At the $29 list price, a team of three pays $87 a month in seats before any Fin outcomes, and $186 a month with 100 Fin outcomes.
Ownership update, October 2026: the company behind Intercom renamed itself Fin, after its AI agent, and Salesforce completed its acquisition of Fin, formerly Intercom, on 10 September 2026. The help desk keeps the Intercom name, and Salesforce says Fin will continue to serve its customers as part of its AI Labs.
This guide sets out what each plan costs, how Fin is counted, which add-ons and channels cost extra, and what a small team’s bill looks like at realistic volumes.
Disclosure: Convot makes a help desk that competes with Intercom, and this guide says where Convot fits at the end. Intercom figures come from Intercom’s own pricing page, checked on 1 October 2026, except the $29 annual Essential list price, which comes from a third-party price tracker because the page showed the $19 offer, and the monthly seat prices, which come from the page’s own pricing markup.

How much does Intercom cost per seat?
Intercom charges per Full seat, with a one-seat minimum. List prices as of 1 October 2026, with annual Essential shown at its $29 list price rather than the $19 offer:
| Plan | Billed annually, per seat a month | Billed monthly, per seat a month | 3 seats, annual | 3 seats, monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $29 | $39 | $87 | $117 |
| Advanced | $85 | $99 | $255 | $297 |
| Expert | $132 | $139 | $396 | $417 |
Every plan includes the Fin AI Agent, charged per outcome on top of the seat price. Advanced includes 20 free Lite seats and Expert 50; a Lite seat is for internal collaboration and cannot send messages to customers. Intercom offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, covering all features, Fin and add-ons.
What does each Intercom plan include?
Intercom’s three plans step up in automation, help center options and security.
- Intercom Essential includes Fin for service, sales and ecommerce, the Messenger, a shared inbox and ticketing system, pre-built reports and a public help center.
- Intercom Advanced adds multiple team inboxes, the workflows automation builder, round-robin assignment, a private and multilingual help center, and 20 free Lite seats.
- Intercom Expert adds SSO and identity management, HIPAA support, service level agreements, a multibrand Messenger and help center, and 50 free Lite seats.
All three plans include free, unlimited live chat, support email, in-app chats, banners and tooltips. Email campaigns, SMS, WhatsApp and phone are billed by usage on any plan.
How Fin AI Agent pricing works
Fin AI Agent starts at $0.99 per outcome on every Intercom plan. Intercom counts an outcome in three cases:
- the customer confirms their issue is resolved,
- the customer does not ask for more help after Fin responds, or
- Fin completes a workflow, which Intercom calls a Procedure, including a handoff to a person.
Intercom charges once per conversation, even if Fin answers several questions in it. Two details matter for a budget. First, a customer who simply stops replying counts as an outcome. Second, a completed workflow counts even when it ends in a handoff, so some conversations a person finishes can still be billed.
Fin can also run on top of another help desk, such as Salesforce, at $0.99 per outcome with no seat cost and a minimum monthly commitment, which Intercom’s example puts at 50 outcomes.
At 100 outcomes a month, Fin adds $99; at 500, $495; at 1,000, $990. To model your own volume against other tools, use the AI support cost calculator.
Intercom add-ons and usage charges
Three optional add-ons sit on top of the plans, and several channels are billed by use.
| Add-on or usage | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Copilot | $29 per agent a month billed annually, $35 monthly | Unlimited AI assistant in the inbox; 10 Copilot and 10 AI auto-translation conversations per agent free each month |
| Proactive Support Plus | $99 a month for 500 messages | Product tours, surveys, in-app messages, mobile push, carousels; extra messages per unit |
| Pro | $99 a month | AI features for analysing and improving support, including Operator; 1,000 conversations analysed and 2,000 credits a month, extra credits $0.01 each |
| Per conversation | Varies by volume and direction | |
| SMS | Per message | Varies by region |
| Email campaigns | Per bulk email | Inbound support email is included |
| Phone | Usage-based | Varies |
Copilot is the add-on most teams weigh first. For three agents it is $87 a month billed annually, the same as three Essential seats.
What does Intercom cost a small team?
Seats set the floor and Fin sets the variable part. Three illustrative monthly bills, using annual seat prices and Intercom’s listed rates:
| Scenario | Seats | Fin outcomes | Copilot | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 seats on Essential, 100 Fin outcomes | $87 | $99 | No | $186 |
| 3 seats on Essential, 200 Fin outcomes, Copilot for all 3 | $87 | $198 | $87 | $372 |
| 3 seats on Advanced, 500 Fin outcomes | $255 | $495 | No | $750 |
On monthly billing, with Copilot at $35 per agent, the same three scenarios cost $216, $420 and $792. Proactive Support Plus, WhatsApp, SMS and phone would add to each.
The jump from Essential to Advanced is usually driven by workflows, multiple team inboxes or a private help center, and it nearly triples the seat cost for three people, from $87 to $255 a month billed annually.
Annual or monthly, and the $19 Essential offer
Annual billing saves $10 a seat a month on Essential, $14 on Advanced and $7 on Expert. Contracts are optional; Essential and Advanced can be bought monthly or annually without one.
On 1 October 2026, Intercom’s pricing page showed Essential at $19 per seat billed annually. Pricing trackers record this as a new-customer offer that Intercom has switched on and off several times since June 2026, while the standard annual price is $29. If you see $19, check whether it is time-limited and what it renews at before you plan a year’s budget on it.
What Intercom costs for several brands or products
Intercom lists a multibrand Messenger and help center on Expert. A team that wants separate branding per product inside one workspace therefore looks at Expert, at $132 per seat billed annually, or $396 a month for three seats, before Fin. Intercom’s pricing page does not say how Essential and Advanced handle several brands, so confirm with Intercom before you budget.
Teams running several apps can compare how other tools price this in the guide to help desks for teams running more than one app.
Did Salesforce’s acquisition change Intercom pricing?
Intercom’s pricing had not changed when checked on 3 October 2026: the pricing page still listed Essential at $29, Advanced at $85 and Expert at $132 per seat a month billed annually, with Fin AI Agent at $0.99 per outcome. Salesforce completed its acquisition of Fin, formerly Intercom, on 10 September 2026, and its announcement says Fin will continue to serve its customers as part of Salesforce’s AI Labs (Salesforce, 10 Sep 2026). It did not announce pricing changes.
Teams on an annual contract should confirm the per-seat price, the Fin outcome price and the contract terms at their next renewal, since the vendor is now part of Salesforce. The guide to Intercom alternatives compares other options at published prices.
How to lower an Intercom bill
- Apply for the startup program. Intercom lists up to 93% off plus a year of Fin free for early-stage startups.
- Use Lite seats for internal collaborators on Advanced and Expert, where 20 and 50 are free.
- Pay annually if you are sure of the plan; it saves $7 to $14 a seat a month.
- Watch what counts as a Fin outcome. Conversations where the customer goes quiet are billed, so review Fin’s resolved and handed-off conversations in your first month.
- Use the free Copilot allowance of 10 conversations per agent a month before buying the add-on.
How Convot is priced differently
Convot prices by app, with seats included, instead of per seat. Convot Starter is $49 a month for 1 app and 3 seats, Growth $79 for 2 apps and 7 seats, and each extra app is $20 and each extra seat $10. Convot is free while your product earns under $1,000 MRR. Cove AI, Convot’s AI agent, costs $0.20 per resolved conversation in which it replied, on paid plans.
For three people and 200 AI resolutions, that is $49 plus $40, or $89 a month on Convot, against $285 on Intercom Essential at the $29 list price billed annually with 200 Fin outcomes, or $255 if the $19 offer applies. The units are close but not identical: Intercom also bills Fin workflows that end in a handoff, while Convot bills only resolved conversations in which Cove AI replied.
Intercom is the stronger choice for teams that need outbound product tours and surveys, phone and WhatsApp in one inbox, HIPAA support or Intercom’s integration ecosystem. Convot fits teams that run more than one app and want a help center, changelog, roadmap and status page for each, on one bill.
