Convot vs Chatwoot

Chatwoot is open source, with a hosted cloud or self-hosting.
Convot is a hosted help desk for every app you run, priced by apps, not agents.

Convot is a hosted-only Chatwoot alternative for small teams that run more than one app. It costs $49 a month for 1 app and 3 seats, against Chatwoot Cloud's Startups plan at $19 per agent, and adds a changelog, roadmap, status page and scheduling for each app. Chatwoot is the better fit if you want to self-host its open-source edition, need WhatsApp, social or voice channels, or have only one or two agents.

The honest take

When should you use each?

Chatwoot is a good fit when…

  • You want to self-host your support stack on your own servers, with the open-source edition
  • You need WhatsApp, social channels or voice in the same inbox
  • You have one or two agents: Chatwoot is $19 to $38 a month, or free on Hacker, against $49 for Convot's first paid plan
  • You want the option to run it yourself, and your team is comfortable running and upgrading its own infrastructure
  • You build open source: Chatwoot offers its Startups plan free to open-source projects

Convot wins when…

  • You run more than one app and want every conversation in one inbox, labeled by app, with one record per customer
  • You want a changelog, roadmap with voting, status page and scheduling for each app, not only chat and a help center
  • You want a flat price by app count: $49 for 1 app and 3 seats, $79 for 2 apps and 7 seats, not $19 to $99 per agent
  • You want AI billed per resolved conversation ($0.20 with Cove AI on paid plans) rather than in credits, where the cost per reply is not published
  • You build Shopify apps and want plan, MRR and LTV beside the chat (Shopify apps)
